A Birthday Party and a Fish
So Michael's birthday on the 18th went well. Nana and Papa were in town and Papa helped me make this cake. It turned out a whole lot better than I expected it to. And Michael was okay that it was pink instead of red. I just couldn't get the dyes right to make it red.

After we made the cake, Nana and Papa took the boys to an aquarium that has touching tanks. Unfortunately, Isaac didn't understand which tanks he could touch and which he could not. So he stuck his hands in a tank with large fish that swarmed around him and one bit his hand! Poor kid. Thankfully all is healing well.
A few days after the birthday, Isaac and Michael decided they wanted to climb onto the piano bench next to the window and look out. The light wasn't right to take the photo, but it was really cute.

They also love to play in the laundry baskets while I do laundry.

Post 100
So, as the stock market falls or what ever you want to call it, I am often drawn in thoughts back to the housing market. My sweet wife is willing to live where ever we need to in order to make ends meet. I do wish I could get her a house sometime though so she feels like she has a place of her own.
I have thought about many types of houses over the years, I still keep coming back to the idea of a gambled style barn maybe with wings, but definitely one of those look out places on the top. Maybe we can even get a Rooster weather vein on top. I would love to build one, but where, when and with what money? Who would actually honestly lend us the money for that? (and on a graduate stipend no less)
So, I am drawn back to the idea of the innovative housing design that was in a previous post. So, in memory of all the posts, here is the home my wife REFUSES to live in.
Happy 100!

The Joys of Home Depot and General Conference Activities!
So yesterday was the first Saturday of the month, and as such my boys were excited to go to Home Depot for their monthly children's workshop. One of my favorite things about going is that it is free! except gas. And the kids get to build something different every month. This month was firetrucks. Michael is more interested in playing with his than Isaac is, but at least he enjoyed playing with the hammer while we were building them. Then the folks at Home Depot announced they had the real firefighters there with their real fire engine outside for the kids! They allowed the children to climb in and out of it, and explore and ask questions about anything they saw in the fire engine. Both Michael and Isaac loved it. It was loads of fun.
Last month we bought some five gallon buckets, and the kids have really enjoyed playing with them. Isaac is just the right size, and Michael was upset when he didn't fit like Isaac did.

So, I had to go to JoAnn's Fabric store to get some cloth, and found this fleece in their remnant pile. The fabric wasn't shaped right to make a single blanket out of each. But cut up, I can make two blankets for the new baby! Both Michael and Isaac love the scraps I cut off. They used them as fire hoses in their new fire trucks! This is just the design of one of the blankets. The other will be more of a patchwork design.

PS: Third trimester and counting.
