Dessert Post. Ummm, delicious.

So we had been given these ice cream cones a while back. Since ice cream is not a common feature in our home, we needed to do something with these cones, so we made them into cupcake cones. We used cake batter and poured it into the empty cone up to the inner rim. Then we baked it standing up in the cupcake tray. We used icing afterwords. Then the kids enjoyed them, a little too much.

Then we hollowed out an orange and poured more cake batter in it. We put a little too much in, but it just overflowed. I keep forgetting that volume is not linear with height when baking in a sphere. Ok, so I never had to consider it before, but here is the result of the experiment.

This is how it looked inside.
When you break it open you get this orangey goodness.

Real simple and real fun.

I never would have thought to put cake batter in a citrus fruit - it looks like you guys are ushering in a new era in cake making. Looks yummy.

Interesting to do that. Did the cake taste really orangey?
