Waiting
So, the waiting begins for us with the baby. Sometimes perspective works against you. I remember in happy ignorance waiting for our oldest to be born. "On the due date" is what everyone tells you, "probably later", but "maybe earlier if you are lucky". 10 days early one morning water broke, baby came. No warning or false anticipation, just happy ignorance. 8 days early, 10 days early for the others. With ones such as us who are trained in recognizing mathematical patterns or at least taking averages, there is no longer a happy ignorance, just eager anticipation. So, we wait and wait, anxiously awaiting the 10-8 days early. But then, what happens? It has been such a set time period that we are ignorant of the time after. I imagine it is like someone else going past due, but is it really? It won't be past due for another 10-8 days. So, we wait anxiously, trying to carry on a normal life without knowing beforehand when it will happen. At least we know what will happen when it happens, so we aren't ignorant on that at least, just waiting for that happy day.

Yikes... If I went 10 days early, I would be having my baby tomorrow. Then I would have to finish packing my hospital bag...
remember how i went early with my first just a week before you? joel was 17 days early and then my second was 14 days early. my third... 2 days early. that 12 days longer of pregnancy that i had never experienced was like torture! :) probably because i expected him to come early like the other two. i'm expecting my 4th in april and i will not be so foolish to put an early expectation on her arrival. i'll save myself some misery this time around by doing that. hopefully, your 4th will follow the mathematical pattern, though. :) i'll say a little prayer for you...
